Used Laptop Answers
- All our used laptops are in full working order. All laptops
are reset with factory settings before being sold on and are
installed with Firefox and AVG or avast anti virus. All the
latest operating system service packs and security patches are
also installed and all device drivers are correctly installed.

Most people wouldn’t flinch at the idea of buying a used car,
but the thought of a used computer sometimes makes people
nervous. The large computer manufacturers try their
hardest to keep it that way: they advertise new products in such
a way to render the previous models perceptually obsolete. But
these models are not obsolete and in actual fact a model that is
3 or 4 years old is more than enough for most users and is
sometimes more reliable than a newer model that breaks 1 month
after its warranty runs out!! There are numerous benefits to a
used computer the most obvious being the money saved which can
be a substantial amount sometimes even 100s. The second major
benefit is that it is keeping these usable pieces of equipment
out of landfill. Is it worth paying £100+ more for a new laptop
and seeing an old one got to a landfill just so that it will
boot up 2 seconds faster or because the manufacturer tells you
its the latest model and you need to upgrade?
- Generally we only sell used laptops that are in excellent
cosmetic condition. We will always describe any damage to the
laptop in the laptop condition section.
- All the laptops we sell on are in a used condition. This
means that the laptops have had previous owners (most of the
time only 1 previous owner). Most of the laptops we sell on are
either repairs that customers did not think were financially
viable to repair when considering the labour and parts and
therefore decided to buy another laptop. The other reason that
laptops are sold on is if a user decides to upgrade there laptop
and therefore decides to sell the old one on. In both cases we
have no labour fees so we upgrade the hardware in the case of
older laptops or replace the faulty parts in the case of damaged
laptops and then sell the laptop on at a fraction of the price
of a new laptop.
- The laptops are all classed as used and therefore are not
under warranty although we do offer a 7 day return to base
policy. Although not essential we would recommend taking out our
preventative maintenance contract. This includes a maintenance
check every 6 month on your computer to look for any problems
that may arise, check updates and anti virus and other general
checks. Also included in our maintenance contracts are priority
callouts, email support as well as reduced rates for our
takeaway service and any repair work needed on the registered
machine. The cost for home users is £8.99 per month or £99.99
per year.
